The three Charité campuses have to satisfy the highest architectural, technical and functional standards if they are to continue to support Berlin’s status as a prominent hub for healthcare. As Berlin’s Senate Building Director, I am particularly interested in making sure the architectural quality of the individual campuses is improved even further. This has been achieved most recently with the newbuild for the Deutsches Herzzentrum der Charité (DHZC).

Charité is in the process of establishing a medical specialisation for each of its campuses. These unique areas of expertise will complement each other to form an integrated overall healthcare system. The visions for its architecture are equally intertwined and are aimed at ensuring Berlin is fit for the future as a region for healthcare.

Vom Spatenstich zur Baugrube – Baufortschritte beim DHZC in bewegten Bildern
Der Neubau des Deutschen Herzzentrums der Charité (DHZC) schreitet weiter voran: Die Arbeiten an der 19 Meter tiefen Baugrube stehen kurz vor dem Abschluss. Ab Juni 2025 beginnt die nächste Bauphase – mit der Einrichtung des Rohbaus und der Herstellung der Fundamentplatte als Vorbereitung für die Grundsteinlegung.
